Office Assistants are responsible for performing routine office clerical duties, requiring limited knowledge of departmental procedures and practices. Work assigned to Office Assistants requires basic knowledge of the functions applicable to an area of assignment and the ability to solve routine problems. This part-time Office Assistant position will support tasks related to faculty assessment of Student Learning Outcomes at Long Beach City College. Prior experience with Canvas Learning Management, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Outlook, and Google Forms is preferred. Work in this position requires attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple competing priorities. Office Assistant is distinguished from Senior Office Assistant in that incumbents in the latter class perform more difficult clerical and office support functions, requiring greater familiarity with District functions, policies and procedures and the use of judgment and knowledge gained through experience.

Under supervision, performs a wide variety of routine clerical support functions in a District department, including typing, data entry, filing and receptionist duties; and performs related duties as assigned.

Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION:
Education, Training and Experience:
A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent; and at least one year of office administrative or secretarial experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Meeting the minimum requirements of the position does not guarantee advancement in the selection process. Candidate qualifications will be assessed to determine those who meet and exceed requirements, and are deemed most competitive amongst the applicant pool to proceed.

• If you participate in and fail any examination segment, you must wait a period of 90 days (~3 months) to test again for the same classification.

An Online Written Test or Oral Panel Interview may be used to assess applicant qualifications. Test parts are determined by the size and competitiveness of the candidate pool.
The qualified candidates will be placed on an unranked list. Seniority points for internal existing LBCC employees and points for Veteran's credit will not be added. The unranked list will be submitted to the hiring authority for consideration.Final interview: TBD
