SBCEO offers programs and services in support of nearly 70,000 children throughout Santa Barbara County - from Santa Barbara to Santa Ynez, Lompoc, Orcutt, and Santa Maria.

Job Summary

The Director of Special Education provides supervision and support in the coordination of Special Education services, programs, and personnel. This position supports the Special Education Coordinators in the day-to-day aspects of supervising programs within the division. This individual plays a critical role in developing the systems needed to monitor program implementation and effectiveness. This position reports directly to the Associate Superintendent of Special Education and serves as an integral member of the leadership team both within the organization and as a liaison with other LEAs and SELPA. SBCEO's Special Education Programs include Early Start, Preschool, Regional Special Day Classes, Juvenile Court & Community School special education services, Direct Service District special education services, School Psychologists, School Nurses and all designated instructional services. These programs are located throughout Santa Barbara County, and travel throughout the county is required. Previous experience in Special Education administration is highly desirable.

Requirements / Qualifications

Valid CA Administrative Credential and Master's degree required.
