EXPERIENCE: One year of paid experience and training and/or education with children of various age levels in behavior support including students with autism and emotional disturbances and/or students who may be struggling with mental health issues such as disruptive behavior, anxiety, or trauma preferred.
EDUCATION: Equivalent to the completion of twelfth grade, and one of the following: (1) completed two years of study at an institution of higher education (48 semester units); (2) obtained an associate's degree (or higher) degree, or (3) met a rigorous standard of quality and be able to demonstrate, through a formal State or local academic assessment (can be administered by ALSD, if needed), knowledge of and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics (or, as appropriate, reading, writing, and mathematics readiness). Training in implementing Intensive Behavior Intervention techniques preferred.
OTHER: Must possess current CPR and CPI certification while employed in position. Bilingual desirable.
IF SELECTED THE FOLLOWING ARE REQUIRED: Fingerprint verification at an approximate cost of $64 to the employee; Proof of TB clearance (within 4 years) at employee’s cost or a “Certificate of Completion” signed by a licensed health care provider for the Adult TB Risk Assessment Questionnaire; Certificate of Completion for the CA Mandated Reporter Training dated after July 1, 2022.
