Position Overview Under the direct supervision of the Director, Talent Strategy & Human Resources, the Associate Director, HR/Student Success will provide excellent service and guidance in the area of Human Resources for PLN’s Student Success Team: Charter Schools, After School Program and Early Education Program. The Associate Director, Human Resources/Student Success will provide thought partnership to the PLN education leadership team to support the division and provide HR service to PLN education employees. Duties -Teacher Recruitment: Design and implement recruitment and sourcing strategies and data metrics; --collaborate with student success leadership teams to conduct regular compensation surveys. -Employee Relations: Support and manages employment-related inquiries from employees and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff. Conducts employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations. -Credentialing/Certification: Develops a system to monitor credentialing and permits in compliance with CTC regulations. Advise current and potential employees on proper state credentialing and permit qualifications, renewals, and requirements. Problem solves credential/permit solutions based on California law and employee’s specific circumstances. -Education Staff Records: Manage and maintain updated records on education certificated staff and classified staff. -Oversight & Audits: Manage Charter School HR Oversight Process and Early Education Audits; Collaborate with education staff to prepare for oversight visits and audits. -Compliance: Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance. -Subject Matter Expertise: Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in education: human resources, talent management, and employment law. -Personnel Transaction

Qualifications and Experience Requirements -Ability to work independently, and coordinate multiple large projects through planning, prioritizing, and multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment. -Proficient in Microsoft Office, HRIS (Dayforce knowledge a plus) -Ability to display sensitivity, tact and responsiveness in various situations and maintain a high level of confidentiality. -Ability to understand and interpret agency and department/school policies and procedures. -Bilingual (English/Spanish) highly preferred -Valid driver’s license plus ability to provide own transportation to complete travel requirements of job. -Regular/Daily travel to charter school sites and meetings as needed, 30-40%. Education and Certification Requirements -Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or related field; master’s degree a plus -5 -7 years of Human Resources experience working in K-12 schools (preferably charter schools) and early education programs. -3 – 5 years of teacher recruitment experience -Experience with California teaching credentials/permits and California Child Development Permits -Clear understanding of HR practices and legal requirements -Knowledgeable of federal, and state labor laws and guidelines for employers -Performance Management & employee relations problem solving and analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to research and analyze problems, provide feedback, and recommendations. -Experience providing guidance to school administrators, teachers, and employees regarding teaching credentials, and general human resources matters.
Other Requirements -Successfully pass all post offer, pre-employment screening requirements, including criminal background check, drug test and provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States. -Must have reliable transportation and State required automobile insurance coverage and valid -Class C California driver’s license (mileage to be reimbursed) -TB clearance to be renewed every year COVID-19 Vaccine Required for All Employees Must have Covid-19 vaccinations and boosters as required by PLN policies.
