Job Summary
The President provides leadership, vision, strategy, and advocacy for LACC. With an institutional understanding of LACC culture, goals and objectives, the President is responsible and directly accountable for all College operations and is a member of the Chancellor's Cabinet. The successful candidate will have a strong grounding in academic and student services programs with a deep understanding of the community college system, which includes transfer and career technical education, as well as basic skills preparation, workforce and economic development, community services programs and contract education. The candidate must be able to embrace, thrive and effectively lead the college in a dynamic environment of instructional and service modalities. The candidate must thoroughly understand the core mission of amplifying student success within their leadership role in an urban community college and multi-cultural community. The College seeks a bold visionary leader who will lead the campus into the next decade.
Requirements / Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Possession of a master's degree; and,
- One year of formal training, internship, or leadership experience reasonably related to the administrator's administrative assignment.
- Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability and ethnic backgrounds of community college faculty, staff and students.
General Requirements
Health: A medical certificate indicating fitness to engage in administrative work is required for new employees at the applicant’s expense after selection and before employment. Pursuant to LACCD Board of Trustee's Policy 2900, all students and employees must be fully vaccinated or have an approved exemption. LACCD employees are required to provide their vaccination status in compliance with the LACCD Board of Trustees’ policy. Newly hired employees will be required to provide their vaccination status prior to starting a position or, at the latest, by their position start date.DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
- An earned doctorate or other terminal degree.
- Teaching, academic, administrative, and student services experience, preferably at the community college or university level.
- Five years successful full-time senior leadership experience in administrative positions in higher education at a level with significant decision-making responsibilities and/or comparable business and industry experience.
