The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County’s most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment. OCDE’s vision is that “Orange County students will lead the nation in college and career readiness and success.” Department staff are working to achieve this goal in collaboration with educators at all levels of student development, from early childhood through higher education, and in partnership with families, businesses and community organizations.

Job Summary
OCDE’s Educational Services Division is currently seeking several dynamic professionals to serve as the Coordinator, WellSpace. The Coordinator, WellSpace will be responsible for working with the existing OCDE WellSpace team and partners to plan, establish and support the opening of additional student wellness centers, called “WellSpaces,” in schools throughout the county through navigating ongoing communication with school/district teams, developing procedural and logistical guidelines, and ensuring continuous improvement through the use of data/evaluation. The WellSpace Coordinator will be responsible for supporting WellSpace site staff in coordination of services to promote students' mental and physical health within school WellSpaces. This Coordinator will also serve as a consultant to establish and refine practices and policies for WellSpaces in schools, facilitate the WellSpace Network meetings, deliver applicable professional development, presentation, and training, strengthen and leverage community partnerships, as well as develop program-related resources. The position is grant funded through September 2024.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education, Training and Experience: Any combination of education, training, and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way of obtaining the knowledge and abilities would be: Master's Degree from an accredited college or university, with major coursework in mental health, counseling, psychology social work, marriage, and family therapy, or a related field. Five (5) years of full-time leadership experience working in mental health, education, or social service. A valid California Pupil Personnel Services Credential is preferred.
