DEFINITION:
Under the direct supervision of the site administrator, provides comprehensive, coordinated counseling services for students; coordinates with parents, community members, and staff in the area of educational responsibilities, student performance, personal, family, and social relationships, and parent education.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Provides counseling sessions individually and/or in groups for the purpose of meeting the needs of students in personal family and social relationships, and educational responsibilities
- Coordinates with teachers, and other staff members, and/or community (e.g. courts, child protective services, etc.) for the purpose of providing requested information, gaining needed information and/or making recommendations
- Monitors students’ records for the purpose of developing plans and/or providing information regarding students’ goals
- Prepares documentation (e.g. observations, progress reports, contacts with parents, teachers, outside professionals, etc.) for the purpose of providing written support, developing recommendations, and/or conveying information
- Presents information on various topics (e.g. behavior management, etc.) for the purpose of providing required information and/or advice
- Assists other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities
- Participates in various extra curricular school and/or community activities for the purpose of providing supervision and/or representing school at such activities
- Supervises assigned programs (e.g. peer counseling, special education, ESL, etc.) for the purpose of monitoring performance and achieving overall curriculum objectives
CREDENTIAL/LICENSE:
- Valid California Pupil Personnel Services credential in School Counseling
- Valid California Driver License
EDUCATION:
Bachelor's degree including all courses to meet credential requirements

Hesperia Unified is on a modified traditional calendar. We begin in mid-August and end at the end of May. This position is for the 2020/2021 school year and is located at Hesperia High School (subject to change).
