Substitute Aides are substitute instructional assistants supporting our Special Education and Early Childhood Development Programs. Substitute Aides have the flexibility of choosing when and where they want to work depending on their availability and will substitute for regular employees who are sick and/or away from the classroom. This is a great job for those who want a flexible schedule, making it a perfect fit for those who have other obligations and need flexibility. Within our Special Education program, under the supervision of the Nevada County Superintendent of Schools (NCSOS) Special Education Associate Superintendent and Special Education Principal, the substitute aide will assist certificated teaching staff, therapist, nurse, and other specialists in providing instruction to individuals or small groups of students assigned to special programs/services offered by NCSOS including classrooms serving the intellectually disabled, orthopedically impaired, autistic, multi-disability, emotionally disturbed population, and alternative education. Most positions are classroom-based. Some positions may be itinerant. Supporting our Early Childhood Development program, under the supervision of the Child Development Center Director and the Associate Superintendent of Educational Services, substitute aides assist staff with the planning and implementation of appropriate curriculum for children ages 18 months to 3 years (toddler program) and 3 to 5 years (preschool program).

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Any combination of training and experience, which would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities, is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: • High School diploma or equivalent • Paid or volunteer experience performing like duties • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Training and/or experience in child development and behavioral training preferred Desirable documents to attach: Letter of Introduction Resume
These requirements must be met prior to beginning employment and will be requested upon job offer acceptance. • Fingerprint and Background clearance • Post Offer, Pre-Employment Physical (paid by employer) • Valid Tuberculosis clearance • Proof of vaccinations for Flu (annual), MMR, TDAP* • Current CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain). *Subject to change based on regulatory requirements
