DEFINITION Under supervision of the Project Director or assigned supervisor, the Community Liaison will provide support and establish a trusting, meaningful relationship between parents and school/agency personnel. The Community Liaison will ensure that basic family needs are met, including food and clothing. Determining physical, medical, emotional and educational needs of children and families will also be the responsibility of the Community Liaison who will carry between 20 and 30 families in family assistance cases. CLASS CHARACTERISTICS Positions in this class will associate directly with parents, students, certificated staff members and agency personnel. This person will act as a parent/family/child advocate when necessary, ensuring attendance and accompanying when necessary to appointments, assistance in completing forms and follow-up. This is a specially funded job classification. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES Participate in assigned school based Student Assistance Programs. Process admissions. Complete a comprehensive evaluation of each client’s life situation, problems and needs including physical health, emotional health, finances, social and other factors. Participate in regular meetings to discuss case management techniques with Community Services Manager and Project Director, or assigned supervisor, to provide for facilitating access to and “linkage” with appropriate agencies and resources. Maintain records as required. Monitor effectiveness of support services, including client and agency participation. Initiate family contacts following Student Assistance referrals. Transport families if necessary to local community services.

Graduation from high school or equivalent Correct English and Spanish vocabulary and usage Valid California Driver’s License Bilingual Preferred
