School Hours : Monday - Friday: 7 AM - 6 PM. GENERAL SUMMARY: Fortune Preschool Teachers will provide a high quality preschool and early preschool program within a lab school environment. The school is based on Reggio Emilia and our approach includes an open-ended environment, emergent curriculum, loose parts, focus on nature, and discovery through play. Teachers will observe and document children’s daily learning; invest in a personal relationship with each student and family; value each child as an individual. Fortune Preschool is a culture of high expectations while creating a nurturing supportive environment that includes the shared belief that every student will attend college when the time comes. The program is based on best practices in early learning and this site will serve as a training facility/lab school for future educators. As a lab school, teachers are expected to provide guidance, mentoring and leadership to interns. Classroom teachers will work as a team and will report to the site Preschool Director. Professional Development and training will be provided! (Reggio Emilia, Play-Based, DRDP, ECERS, etc.) Additional Benefits: Paid Time Off :12 paid sick days, 12 paid vacation days and 2 paid floater days. Additional paid holidays 403(B) Retirement Plan (Fortune matches up to 4% of contributions after one year of employment) PAID Teacher Induction Program.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential duties of the position include, but are not limited to:
Maintain student health, safety, ratio and supervision at all times according to Title 22 regulations .
Assist in caregiving routines such as hand washing, serving meals, diapering, toileting, and naptime.
Provide stimulating Reggio inspired educational experiences which promote socio/emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
Scaffold lessons and environments to meet the developmental needs of each child.
Plans, implements and evaluates daily instructional activities, including a written activity plan.
Collaborate with colleagues to improve instructional practices throughout the school; share best practices.
Create meaningful relationships through effective communication to regularly engage families in the classroom.
Make learning visible through formal and informal ongoing observation throughout the year.
Create and Display a variety of documentation boards.
Utilize age appropriate, positive discipline techniques.
Identify unique student needs and collaborate with team members to effectively address those needs.
Supervise assistants, volunteers, student teachers; delegate duties in a professional manner.
Provide feedback to college instructor regarding lab students, complete lab mentor paperwork.
Ensures the safety, security, cleanliness, and orderliness of the classroom and playground environments Actively participate in professional development activities, staff meetings, and school events.
Collaborate with colleagues, parents, community, and stakeholders
Ability to support and encourage emergent plurilingual learners and family biliteracy.
Maintain accurate student records and confidentiality of students and families.
Schedule and conduct twice a year parent/guardian conferences.
Complete center paperwork (accident reports, potty logs, observations of children) in a timely manner.
Collaborate with the director and parent/guardian regarding possible developmental concerns.
Maintain knowledge of current trends and research in the field of early childhood education.
Select and order necessary classroom supplies by request to administration.
Address concerns with the Director.
Perform other related duties as required and assigned.
Assume a leadership role in the development of the school.

Student Assessment and Monitoring:
Experienced in assessment; emphasizing student achievement as the primary outcome of schooling.
Ability to assess and monitor student progress.
Able to work with the Director to identify and respond to at-risk students. Can work effectively with families and guardians and others regarding student progress.
Maintains policies and practices for assessing the development, reporting, and promoting.
Knowledge of child cognitive development and various learning styles.
Knowledge and understanding of Title 22 regulations
Knowledge of subject matter, including California State Standards and subject-specific frameworks and assessments.
Ability and willingness to implement Fortune School Instructional Guidelines and Best Practices.
Ability and willingness to reflect and improve instructional practices.

Minimum Educational Level:
Option 1: 24 units Early Childhood Education or Child Development plus 16 units of General Education
Option 2: Child Development Teacher permit issued by CTC
Option 3: BA in ECE or CD
Preferences in addition to one of the above:
2 + years of experience in a Preschool as a Teacher
Valid First Aid/CPR training, or willingness to obtain.
