The Preuss School UC San Diego is a public charter school located on the East Campus, serving students in grades 6-12. Dedicated to providing a rigorous college prep education for motivated low-income students who will become the first in their families to attend and complete college, Preuss serves as a model school to study and develop promising practices in education. The Health Center at The Preuss School plays a leadership role in creating a strong and active wellness culture that enables all students to flourish in body, mind and spirit. A full-time nurse and health assistant are onsite daily to support 850 scholars from dozens of zip codes throughout San Diego. Under the supervision of the Vice Principal, the incumbent will support students to enhance their educational experience and reduce the impact of mental conditions and personal distress on their well-being through appropriate assessment, diagnosis, treatment planning and referrals to campus and community resources. The incumbent will develop interventions, treatment plans, monitor their progress, and assure effective coordination of care between providers at Preuss, other campus resources, and mental health providers in the surrounding community. The services provided will include triage, crisis intervention and brief psychotherapy. Treatment plans may result in off-campus referrals to intensive outpatient and inpatient programs and specialized and/or long-term psychotherapy. The incumbent helps to develop resiliency strategies, programs, and services that build self-esteem, nurture positive development, and help to bond students to the school community. Must have flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed, for outreach and emergencies. SPECIAL CONDITIONS Must possess a Masters Degree in Marriage & Family Therapy or Social Work, or hold an MFT, LPCC, or LCSW license.
