Under the direction of the Resource Specialist Program Teacher and supervision of the Principal, the Resource Specialist Program Aide is a Classified position assisting in the preparation and delivery of instructional materials and assistance in the tutoring of students individually and in small groups. The Resource Specialist Program Aide may service students with any of, or combination of, the following conditions; autism, severe medical/physical involvement (i.e. cerebral palsy, seizure disorders, etc.), communication disorders, hearing/vision impairment, and learning disorders. This position requires Fingerprinting, TB Testing, and a pre-employment physical examination. May be required to obtain first aid and CPR training.

Everest Value School is a Kinder-8th grade charter school in the Koreatown/Mid-Wilshire area and is currently looking for a candidate that is able to take the initiative and support our special education students under the supervision of our Special Education team. This position will also require servicing RSP minutes to SPED students that are mild/moderate. Working and collaborating with SPED coordinator and with classroom teachers. Small group instruction as well as working within the classroom.
Essential Functions:
• Adapts classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of SPED coordinator and/or the classroom teacher for the purpose of supporting and reinforcing classroom objectives.
• Communicates with teachers and the SPED Coordinator for the purpose of assisting in evaluating progress and/or implementing IEP objectives
• Maintains classroom equipment and work area for the purpose of ensuring availability of a safe learning environment and/or meeting mandated requirements.
• Promotes good study habits and student independence for the purpose of improving the quality of student outcomes.
• Provides, under the supervision of the SPED Coordinator and assigned teacher, instruction to students in a variety of individual and group activities for the purpose of implementing goals for remediation of student deficiencies and ensuring student’s success.
• Administers tests, homework assignments, make-up work, etc. for the purpose of supporting teachers in the classroom.
• Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.

Education
- High School Diploma or Equivalency Certificate.
- Some College credit is Preffered but not required.
Experience
- Some experience working with students with disabilities is preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Considerable patience and the ability to work with students who have physical, cognitive and behavior challenges.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
- Ability to employ a variety of teaching styles to respond to the needs of diverse learners.

TYPICAL DUTIES:
Prepare, maintain and administer to students, as directed by certificated personnel, testing and instructional materials
Recognize, stimulate and solicit student interest and participation to the fullest extent of each student’s potential
Reinforce learning concepts at the teacher’s direction
Suggest appropriate learning materials for students
Develop and maintain records and files as request
Conduct remedial instructional activities as assigned
Observe mental and physical health of students and report potential problems to instructor
Monitor individual progress of students and discuss with instructor
Monitor student use of computer programs for appropriate learning levels
Assist in grading and scoring student work; maintain records of test scores and daily grades
Handle discipline problems, refer to teacher when necessary
Accompany and supervise students in library or computer labs
Explain and clarify work assignments to students; tutor as needed
Observe child behavior and report specific problems to instructor
Correcting informal tests, homework, or student workbooks
Completed necessary student records and keep up to date
Supervise the classroom when teacher has to leave it temporarily
Develop techniques and materials to meet individual differences
Other duties as assigned by RSP teacher or Principal
