Educational Facilitator
The Educational Facilitator (EF) is a certificated, exempt position with Community Montessori School which is operated by Element Education. The EF reports to the Regional Manager and School Director. The primary responsibility of the EF is to provide support and guidance to parents in the Montessori philosophy and facilitate student learning which includes, but is not limited to, assessing, developing, planning, organizing, and monitoring a comprehensive educational plan for the desired success of each student.
Essential Functions
Support Student Learning
- Collaborate with parents and students on goals, objectives, and assignments which integrate state standards with student interests and talents; establish summative assessment tools
- Collaborate with parents and students on methods of study and effective and relevant learning plans which best fit students’ learning styles and academic needs while offering opportunities for mastery, autonomy, and a sense of purpose
- Collaborate with parents and students on preparing the learning environment in accordance with students’ learning styles and school’s philosophy
- Provide appropriate learning resources and educational materials, including collaborating with Learning Center staff and Instructors, to complete assignments related to Personalized Plan and Record (PPR) in a timely manner
- Assess regularly for academic growth and planning; Use formative assessment and self-reflection to guide learning
- Communicate academic assessment to parents and students through regular reports and semester report cards
- Monitor Individualized Education Plan (IEP) goals and objectives; attend IEP meetings
- Meet with student and parent, as needed, to discuss progress made on learning plan
- Assist parent and student in maintenance of learning portfolio / learning management system
- Collaborate with specialized instructors, as needed, to meet the needs of all students
- Participate in extracurricular activities, including overnight trips
- Work closely with and assign tasks to learning assistants, including mentoring the learning assistant with his/her role and how he/she can assist specific students
- Provide course instruction including preparation, assessment, and testing
- Provide homeschool assignments to Regional Manager each learning period
- Understand and practice the Montessori philosophy, including planning and executing of Montessori lessons and using Montessori materials
- Collaborate with Instructors in evaluating student work
- Plan and order class curriculum and supplies
- Provide project updates to Regional Manager
- Post weekly newsletter
- Assist with supervision of region, as needed
- Utilize positive discipline strategies
- Ensure the safety of students including, but not limited to, conducting emergency drills and cleaning of workspace
- Meet state mandates for student engagement
Accountability and General Administration
- Maintain student records in accordance with school policies and procedures
- Manage school resources in accordance with school policies and procedures
- Manage EF budget in accordance with school policies and procedures
- Return all correspondence, including phone calls and emails, in a timely manner; Be accessible during business hours and respond to administrative needs and inquiries Support students in preparation for and completion of state standardized tests
- Help organize and proctor all state standardized tests
- Attend and participate in all required meetings, trainings, and school functions; Promote and participate in creative exchange of ideas
- Observe confidentiality
Public Relations
- Communicate school highlights and activities to parents; Maintain open and honest communication with families
- Recruit students as necessary
- Seek opportunities for parents and students to connect with and support each other
- Develop positive relationships with parents and general public associated with the Organization
- Communicate and support the school’s mission, policies, and procedures
- Represent Element Education and its programs in a positive and professional manner
- Act as a liaison between parents and staff, if needed
- Assist with maintaining a positive and effective work environment; Treat all staff with respect, provide opportunities for participation in decision making, and be responsive to the human needs of staff members
Professional and Organizational Development
- Read a minimum of two books annually from required/recommended reading lists or in accordance with the EF’s organization goals
- Seek innovative approaches to self-directed learning and formal training
- Practice reflective observation regularly; Maintain growth mindset
- In collaboration with Regional Manager and School Director, plan for own career growth and ongoing professional development
- Understand and contribute to the Organization’s vision, growth, and development

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Understanding of Personalized Learning Model
- Knowledge of and experience with a wide range of K-8 curricula in all subject areas
- Deep-rooted understanding and practice of the Montessori philosophy, including knowledge of and experience with a wide range of other educational philosophies
- Familiarity and commitment to the mission and educational philosophy of Element Education
- Ability to maintain records as directed by supervisor
- Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding parents, families, and staff
- Ability to remotely and/or virtually perform duties and attend meetings, as needed
- Ability to exercise emotional maturity in communicating with students, parents, and colleagues
- Demonstrate considerable knowledge of technology, Microsoft Office 365 and its’ applications, and DocuSign
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, prioritize, multi-task, and meet deadlines
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; Use appropriate language, tone, and English usage
- Demonstrate good judgement
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships; be approachable and professional

Requirements
- Possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university
- Possess a current, clear or preliminary, multiple or single subject, California teaching credential. Candidate with a preliminary credential will be required to participate in a teacher induction program after offer of employment is made.
- Possess or will obtain Montessori training within first year of employment

- First Aid/CPR/AED certification
- Proof that employee is free of active tuberculosis (i.e. TB risk assessment, TB test, X-ray, etc.)
- Successful background clearance
FT Salary: $47,474 - $91,757
Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package (FT Only); CalStrs; Accrued PTO
Work Schedule: 10 months

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to read, speak, see, and hear well enough to communicate by telephone, electronically, in person, and in the classroom. Employee must also regularly be able to write, file, type, and operate a computer, telephone, general office equipment, and classroom equipment. While in the classroom, the employee is also regularly required to extend arm with upper extremities to write on whiteboard which may require neck rotation to look back at the class. The employee is frequently required to stand and walk throughout the classroom while maneuvering in tight spaces as well as frequently kneel, stoop, or crouch when working with classroom equipment, helping students, etc. The employee is required to speak for long periods of time. A moderate amount of work is completed on electronic mobile and desktop devices. The employee will occasionally sit for an extended period of time which is done at a desk with forward bending from the waist, leaning on forearms, and looking down which requires neck flexion. It is necessary to grasp and manipulate pens, markers, scissors, staplers, etc., occasionally or frequently, depending on the day. Employee might occasionally move materials and classroom furniture to manipulate the classroom layout and be able to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. The employee is required to deal with irate members of the public and stressful situations.
The employee must have reliable transportation and be able to attend meetings at various Element Education regions.
