Griffin Technology Academies (GTA Schools) is a network of 4 charter schools in Vallejo, California that focuses on providing students with a high-quality education in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) fields. The first GTA charter, Mare Island Technology Academy Middle and High Schools was founded in 2001, later adding Griffin Academy Middle and High Schools in 2018. GTA Schools serve students in grades 6-12. Griffin Technology Academies offer a variety of programs and services designed to support students in achieving academic success. These include: small class sizes, personalized instruction, extracurricular activities and enrichment opportunities like, burgeoning athletic programs, before and after school care program, early college (dual enrollment, articulation, concurrent enrollment), AVID, and CTE courses. The schools also provide students with access to technology resources, including laptops and tablets. Students in High School have the opportunity for community service and internships overseen by our Work-Based Learning Coordinator (WBL). What makes our schools special is the partnership between families, community, and educators - each committed to preparing students to become active and responsible citizens in a diverse society by engaging students in a challenging curriculum that provides a solid foundation of academic skills in a safe learning environment. Job Summary

The School Director is responsible for the administration of the middle and high schools; the planning, development, implementation, and assessment of site instructional and operational initiatives to meet organizing and student achievement goals; and for hiring and evaluation of personnel. The Director is a strong advocate of the Charter School movement and specifically support all GTA programs.

With charters based on high expectations and applied research, our newest middle and high schools (Griffin Academy) feature blended learning, using the Summit Learning model with an emphasis on technology. The early college high school, opened in August 2020, is designed to deliver a high school diploma and (free) AA degree in 4 years. Our legacy middle and high schools (MIT Academy) are more traditional and employ standards-based grading, significant dual-enrollment, and an extensive Response To Intervention.
