About the Employer

The Merced County Office of Education assists Merced County’s 20 school districts through support and oversight of curriculum and instruction, alternative education, business services, early education, technology, migrant education, special education, and teacher credentialing. MCOE is led by the elected Merced County Superintendent of Schools and governed by the Merced County Board of Education. While serving as a focal point to facilitate local school/government/community partnerships, MCOE is responsible for the fiscal oversight of each school district in Merced County, hears appeals for student expulsion hearings and interdistrict transfers and operates Green Meadows Outdoor School.

SUMMARY: Under general supervision of the Utility Supervisor, Business Services Department, is responsible for assigned duties required to maintain MCOE buildings/facilities in clean and safe condition and within prescribed safety/security standards. Duties to be performed at any Merced County Office of Education (MCOE) site as directed. This position is included in the classified bargaining unit and is subject to terms of the union agreement regarding membership, payment of like fee, or donation to recognized charity. Minimum qualifications: EDUCATION: High school diploma or recognized equivalent. Additional training or certifications related to janitorial/ custodial work desired. EXPERIENCE: Over one year of experience in custodial and building maintenance work. Experience working for a school district desired. CERTIFICATIONS/SKILLS: Ability to use cleaning materials and equipment skillfully and efficiently; use basic tools in performing minor repairs; perform manual labor; follow verbal and written directions. Proof of valid CA Driver’s license and minimum amount of liability insurance required by law. DMV-H6 printout required. Must furnish own transportation.
