Position Available Immediately: The School Psychologist, under the direction of the Director of Special Education, or designee, provides assessment, counseling and training services at PreK-12 school sites. Advanced training and related experience in the education of individuals with exceptional needs is required, including experience with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The job requires a strong working knowledge of California Education Code as it relates to Special Education, current assessment procedures and tools, and report writing. Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational and leadership skills are also required. Must have experience in developing (or assisting teachers in the development of) curriculum modifications and positive behavior intervention. The School Psychologist is responsible for the identification, assessment and reassessment of all students on the caseload. The School Psychologist works closely with teachers, administrators, parents and students, providing counseling, assessment, training, technical assistance and support, curriculum modifications, and positive behavior intervention plans. The School Psychologist serves as a member of the management team.

The job requires a strong working knowledge of California Education Code as it relates to Special Education and current assessment procedures and tools. Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational and leadership skills are also required.  Must have experience in developing (or assisting teachers in the development of) curriculum modifications.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The School Psychologist is responsible for the identification, assessment and reassessment of all students on the caseload. The psychologist monitors some non-public school placements, as well as facilitates the transitions to/from those placements. The psychologist works closely with teachers, administrators, parents and students, providing counseling, assessment, training, technical assistance and support, curriculum modifications, and behavior intervention plans. The psychologist wills serve as a member of the management team.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Such qualifications include: a master’s degree; classroom experience in both elementary and secondary school settings; knowledge of current trends related to assessment and programs for students with exceptional needs; ability to effectively utilize computer technology in day-to-day work. Priority will be given to those applicants with at least two (2) years of experience as a School Psychologist. Ability to speak and understand Spanish preferred.

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATION: Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and skill is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required knowledge and skill would be:
• Master’s Degree or higher
• Possess, or qualify for, a valid California Pupil Personnel Services credential with school psychologist authorization.
• Must maintain a valid California Driver’s License and have the use of a personal vehicle.
• Two (2) years of successful School Psychologist experience/Bilingual preferred.
