Education and Experience

JOB SPECIFICATION WAREHOUSE PERSON II THE POSITION Under general supervision, receives, stores, ships, issues and delivers instructional materials, and other educational/custodial supplies and equipment to designated points; and performs related work as required. RESPONSIBLE TO: Director – Purchasing/Warehouse DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS Positions in this class receive general supervision from the Warehouse Lead and are primarily responsible for receiving orders and verifying their accuracy. Additional duties may include stocking warehouse items, filling warehouse requisitions and delivering supplies/equipment to various sites. The duties listed below are typical for positions in the class collectively but no one position will necessarily include all these duties. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES The duties listed are typical, but not exclusive: • Drives a delivery truck over a designated route to distribute materials, supplies and equipment to points in the district. • Delivers instructional materials, such as books, charts, films, maps, study prints, audiovisual equipment and other supplies. • Packages materials for safe transport. • Fills supply and forms requisitions, marks for delivery. • Unpacks items received and inspects for damage or defects. • Inspects incoming stock for conformity to purchase orders and packing lists and reports shortages, damages and other discrepancies. • Verifies accuracy of shipment by counting, weighing, or measuring items and comparing size, weight, description, and code numbers with information on invoice, packing slip or purchase order; records discrepancies or damage. • Records fixed asset number and grant ID number if appropriate. • Boxes, prepares and records items for UPS pick up and delivery. • Maintains records of deliveries. • Restocks shelves and rotates supplies. • Operates delivery truck and forklift. • Keeps shelves and other storage spaces in a clean and orderly condition; maintains warehouse area in a clean and safe fashion. • Assists in completing inventory. QUALIFICATIONS GUIDE Knowledge of: • Basic receiving practices and procedures. • Safe and efficient procedures for truck operation, loading and deliveries. • Safe driving practices and traffic laws. • Proper methods of storing materials and supplies. • The locations of various school plants and other district facilities. • Basic written and oral English and simple math. Ability to: • Operate delivery trucks and forklift safely and economically. • Maintain specified delivery schedule in a rush condition. • Lift and carry heavy loads in a safe manner. • Work independently without constant supervision. • Understand and carry out oral and written instructions. • Maintain tactful, cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work. • Maintain basic records. • Learn new procedures and equipment use. • Have a pleasing appearance and demeanor. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade; three (3) years of experience in the operation of a motor vehicle, fork lift, warehousing and storage involving receiving, storage and issuing of supplies; including duties of a delivery nature; good driving record; or any combination of training and experience that could likely provide the desired knowledge and abilities. PERSONAL QUALITIES • Willingness to perform varying storekeeping, warehouse and delivery tasks efficiently. • Physical strength and stamina; strength to lift and carry items up to 55 pounds. • Responsibility for care and custody of large amounts of valuable materials. • Good moral and ethical character.
