The San Diego County Office of Education is recruiting to fill a vacancy for an Administrative Assistant III in the Equity department of the Learning and Leadership Services division. The Administrative Assistant III will assist in developing department procedures, provide technical information and assistance related to program operations, and review and route assigned contracts. This position will also maintain appointment and activity schedules and calendars for the department, including coordinating travel arrangements, hotel reservations, and travel authorizations, and will serve a major role in supporting SDCOE's annual Equity Conference. This position is full-time and will offer the classified support benefits package, which includes medical, dental, vision, and life insurance coverage, and will participate in the CalPERS state retirement system. Typically reporting to an Executive Director, the Administrative Assistant III provides a wide variety of administrative and technical clerical duties for an assigned administrator; assigned tasks may include assisting with budget(s), preparing reports, and special projects.
Requirements / Qualifications
The Administrative Assistant III classification requires a combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from high school and four years administrative assistant or secretarial support experience. Course work in advanced secretarial, communications, business or related field is desirable. Knowledge is required of budget management and recordkeeping, principles of data input and processing, basic public relation techniques, and effective oral and written communication techniques. The results of this recruitment will be used to establish two eligibility lists, one promotional list for internal candidates, and one open list for external candidates. The ranks on the promotional list will be used before certifying the ranks on the open list.
