DEFINITION: Under the supervision of the Head Start Director serves as family liaison to connect families with local and county wide health and social services. Promotes parent involvement in the preschool programs and assists in the development of family and community partnerships.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, MAJOR DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Recruit/register eligible families for the program
2. Assist with parent orientations
3. May assist the Nurse in the general management and delivery
of dental/medical services
4. Communicate effectively and maintain cooperative working
relationships with center/delegate staff and parents
5. Develop and maintain reports and records including
individualized family partnership agreements for children
and families through a variety of means which may include home visits, on-site interviews, etc.
6. Serve as resource to assist families in obtaining needed services
7. May assist with the responsibility for monthly parent meetings/parent education meetings and maintain required records.
8. May provide training for parent officers and center representatives
9. May attend and provide input at monthly case conferences
10. Attend staff trainings
11. Assists with program evaluation
12. Monitor program enrollment and indicate problem to director
13. Perform other related duties as assigned
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge of: • Adult education principles; child growth and development; community resources; various cultural and socioeconomic groups. Record keeping; time management; and organizational skills
CPR/First aid. Ability to speak, read, write Spanish is desirable. Ability to understand and implement complex oral/ or written instructions. Computer skills desirable.
Experience:
Minimum of two years prior successful employment or volunteer work in child development, education, health, mental health or other human service program
Education/Training
Requirements:
Valid California driver’s license and own transportation required
High school diploma or equivalent
