Purpose
The job of Information Technology Analyst is done for the purpose/s of performing a variety of specialized technical duties in the support of a large, complex business environment that supports business and learning objectives; documenting system components and user instructions; and serving as a technical advisor to staff and other district personnel.
This job reports to the Assigned Administrator/Supervisor.
Essential Functions
- Acts as the lead on projects (e.g. scheduling meetings, interfacing with department heads and vendors, etc.) for the purpose of developing a project schedule and ensuring tasks are done on time.
- Assists all aspects of the applications software environment (e.g. vendors, resources, coordinate projects, etc.) for the purpose of monitoring and ensuring text application servers maximum uptime and useability.
- Assists with servers and systems customization for school districts and charters for the purpose of ensuring all the software applications are running smoothly.
- Communicates with a variety of internal and external parties (e.g. personnel, districts, outside agencies, etc.) for the purpose of determining needs for data structures and data management at the County Office, school districts, charter schools, in order to resolve issues and concerns regarding technology and/or ensure project success.
- Confers with Staff concerning technology needs, issues and malfunctions for the purpose of providing recommendations and specialized assistance to staff in researching, evaluating, selecting and ordering computer hardware, software and peripherals to meet identified technology needs.
- Develops clear and concise documentation for end users for the purpose of effectively presenting information in both classroom and one-on-one training environments.
- Evaluates and recommends new technologies for possible implementation for the purpose of providing recommendations concerning the purchasing of applications software, workstations printers, AV equipment.
- Installs and troubleshoots application software, workstations, printers, AV equipment and network systems for the purpose of isolating bugs, resolving operational issues and restoring services.
- Participates in and/or leads meetings (e.g. intra and inter committees, professional organizations, workshops, trainings seminars, conferences, etc.) for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform job functions.
- Provides support and assistance to County Office and school districts technology users concerning issues for the purpose of responding to inquires and providing detailed, technical information concerning hardware, software, security, connectivity, configuration, malfunctions, applications, practices, techniques and procedures.
- Researches new technologies for the purpose of recommending new systems for improving services for SCOE users and maintaining network security.
- Serves as a technical resource for business units, application services team, department and SCOE staff in a variety of areas for the purpose of ensuring proper and efficient use of systems, providing information and/or advice regarding active or planned projects.

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
SKILLS are required to perform multiple, technical tasks with a need to periodically upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: planning and managing projects; preparing and maintaining accurate records; and utilizing pertinent software applications.; analyzing data; operating standard office equipment; conducting meetings; trouble shooting skills; and administering personnel policies and procedures; management and data design including: working with specialized data structures, database design techniques, application, database and data security.
KNOWLEDGE is required to perform advanced math; read technical information, compose a variety of documents, and/or facilitate group discussions; and analyze situations to define issues and draw conclusions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: basic knowledge of relational and dimensional databases; applications development methodologies; record structures, media input and output devices; enterprise-level applications; operating systems, and protocols.
ABILITY is required to schedule activities, meetings, and/or events; often gather, collate, and/or classify data; and consider a variety of factors when using equipment. Flexibility is required to work with others in a variety of circumstances; analyze data utilizing defined but different processes; and operate equipment using a variety of processes. Working Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: some lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally the job requires 50% sitting, 30% walking, and 20% standing. This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
Experience Job related experience within a specialized field is required.
Education Bachelors degree in job-related area.
Equivalency Any combination equivalent to: bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field and one year network, computer programming or related experience.
The stated education and experience requirements are the preferred minimum qualifications for this job. However, relevant experience to substitute for the education requirement and relevant education, certificates and/or licenses to substitute for the experience requirement may be allowed.
