DEFINITION Counselor K-8 provides counseling services to individual students, groups, and families for the early identification of and/or intervention for barriers to academic achievement of students, and to promote and encourage a healthy learning environment.
Requirements / Qualifications
Qualifications for employment include completion of online training in the following areas: *New Employee Training *Preventing Workplace Violence *Bloodborne Pathogens *Sexual Harassment *Child Abuse/Mandated Reporter Upon offer of employment, candidates will receive information and directions regarding this training. Applicants must possess a valid California Pupil Personnel Services Credential authorizing services in School Counseling. Interns will not be considered. An additional authorization in Psychometrics is desirable. M.A. or M.S. degree is required. Three (3) or more years of counseling experience required. Experience working with students in foster care, students experiencing homelessness, and other at-promise youth.

Additional Salary Information:
* Upon hiring, salary placement will be determined by the number of upper division/graduate level units earned from a WASC accredited four-year college or university. Units must be earned subsequent to the date of the Bachelor's degree.
* All previous years of service accepted for placement on salary schedule, up to twenty years accepted
* There is an annual $1,000.00 Doctoral stipend for those that qualify.
