About the Employer
The Merced County Office of Education assists Merced County’s 20 school districts through support and oversight of curriculum and instruction, alternative education, business services, early education, technology, migrant education, special education, and teacher credentialing. MCOE is led by the elected Merced County Superintendent of Schools and governed by the Merced County Board of Education. While serving as a focal point to facilitate local school/government/community partnerships, MCOE is responsible for the fiscal oversight of each school district in Merced County, hears appeals for student expulsion hearings and interdistrict transfers and operates Green Meadows Outdoor School.

Under the direction of the Coordinator, Special Education Department, teaches preschool with a variety of disabilities and their families using a variety of teaching methods in a variety of settings. Works in cooperation with specialists, families and agency representatives in providing for the educational and personal needs of the students. This position is included in the certificated bargaining unit and is subject to terms of the union agreement regarding membership, payment of like fee, or donation to recognized charity.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: SUMMARY OF POSITION: Under the direction of the Coordinator, Special Education Department, teaches severely disabled student utilizing prescribed curriculum. Works in cooperation with specialists, parents and agency representatives in providing for the educational and personal needs of the students. Responsible for the supervision and evaluation of instructional aides and/or teaching assistants assigned to the Program. This position is included in the certificated bargaining unit. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: BA/BS Degree plus appropriate coursework to qualify for credential to teach preschool severely disabled students. One year experience teaching/working with children with special needs. LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES: … Hold/qualify for CA teaching credential authorizing the teaching of severely disabled students with Preschool Authorization or Early Childhood Special Education. Proof of EL Authorization, BEST and CSET scores (or equivalency) must be provided. Valid CA driver’s license and minimum amount of liability insurance required by law. DMV H-6 printout required. Valid CA driver’s license and minimum amount of liability insurance required by law. DMV Driver Record printout required.
