The purpose of this recruitment is to fill a current vacancy at Pacheco Elementary School in San Luis Obispo, and to establish an eligibility list to fill future vacancies for this classification that may occur over the next six months. Candidates who are interested in Elementary Secretary opportunities at Pacheco, or other sites, should apply to this posting in order to earn a spot on the eligibility list. The current opportunity is for a full-time Secretary at Pacheco Elementary. Bilingual skills (English/Spanish) are desirable for this position, but not required. We are interested in the best candidate for the role, and all qualified applicants are encouraged to apply. Elementary Secretaries at SLCUSD perform highly responsible and complex secretarial duties in support of a Principal at an elementary school; serve as lead secretary at the school site; disseminate information and provide assistance to staff, parents, students, and community members; and perform related duties as assigned. To pass screening for Minimum Qualifications, candidates must possess the basic skills and experience outlined in the job description, and must submit the required documents (listed below).
- Copy of Transcript (Transcript showing completion of two years of college course work. If you do not have a transcript, please attach a summary of your additional equivalent experience.)
- Letter of Introduction
- Letter(s) of Recommendation (At least 1 signed letter from a professional reference (preferably drafted within the past two years, and on letterhead))

TEST INFORMATION: ALL APPLICANTS MUST TAKE THE WRITTEN EXAM.
A) Candidates must pass application screening with minimum qualifications. Passing applicants will be invited to take the written examination, scheduled for the afternoon of September 22, 2022.
B) 40% - The written examination covering job related skills, knowledge, and abilities required of an Elementary School Secretary will account for 40% of candidates' final score. Candidates who pass the written exam with a minimum score of 70% may be invited to oral board interviews.
C) 60% - An oral interview covering personal qualifications, experience, and training will account for 60% of candidates' final score. Oral board interviews are tentatively scheduled for the same afternoon as the exam, on September 22, 2022.
Candidates who pass the exam and oral board interviews will be added to an eligibility list, and the top three ranks will be invited to hiring interviews, date TBD.
SPECIAL NOTES: 1) Correctly filling out forms and following other instructions contained in this notice are part of the testing process. 2) Applicants with disabilities need to notify the Human Resources Office of any special needs so that adequate preparation may be made for their testing. 3) Veterans qualifying for the oral board examination may receive 5 additional points added to their final score if proof of discharge is submitted at time of oral board interview. A "veteran" as used here means any person who served in the United States armed forces or National Guard in time of war or national emergency. 4) Eligibility lists are established for a period of six months.
