The Curriculum Writer (CW) will work closely with the Program Manager, Lead and fellow CWs to author the online and print components of various Impacter Pathway course modules, while also reviewing digital content and collaborating with other teams (e.g., Product, Design, Editorial, Marketing, etc.).
Requirements / Qualifications
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE CURRICULUM WRITER: Write student-facing and teacher-facing social-emotional learning content (lessons, practice questions, projects, etc.) for online and in-person teaching environments for a specific grade level or grade band in 5-12. Meet weekly with the authoring team to give and receive feedback on content Peer-edit manuscripts with fellow CWs and review print proofs. Regularly check against errata trackers, making fixes to print components where appropriate. Commitment to creating a representative, equitable curriculum that supports traditionally marginalized students. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS OF THE CURRICULUM WRITER: Bachelor’s degree 3+ years of experience working either (1) in educational settings, with evidence of excellence in instruction at relevant age levels or (2) at a PK-12 curriculum publishing company, with a focus on social-emotional learning. The ability to creatively use online media in adapting SEL education materials An understanding of the progression of common core standards relative to grade level bands. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS OF THE CURRICULUM DEVELOPER: Graduate degree in eduction (early childhood, elementary, or secondary), or principal licensure 5+ years of classroom teaching experience in grades 6-12 using problem-based approach
