King-Chavez Primary Academy is looking for a full-time Special Education Aide to provide one to one support for a student in our special education program. Applicants should be knowledgeable of special education instructional/tutorial procedures and practices, be willing to collaborate with the IEP team to achieve student goals that are established, and possess good reading and writing English communication skills. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus. This is a perfect opportunity for a student in a teacher or education specialist program, but will consider all. This position is full-time, including full medical, dental, and vision benefits, as well as retirement.

King Chavez Special Education Assistant Job Summary:
The Special Education Assistant will work directly under the supervision of a credentialed staff member. Their main function is to support the implementation, evaluation, and assessment pertaining to student’s IEP goals as directed by their supervisor. This may take place in The Learning Center or in the general education classroom. Special Education Assistants will observe and document student progress, implement plans for instruction, and provide information to appropriate staff members. The Special Education Assistant must maintain confidentiality of the students, be respectful of each student’s needs, and be willing to participate in staff development and training opportunities.
Essential Functions of Special Education Assistant:
- Implement direct instructional support to individual and/or groups of students, and attend classes with the student, as designated in the IEP.
- Adapt classroom activities, assignments and materials to provide an opportunity for all special education students to participate in general education classroom activities.
- Provide verbal and/or written feedback of student observations and student classroom support for the purpose of assisting credentialed teacher in evaluating students.
- Collect data and maintain records on each student’s progress toward IEP goals.
- Assist credentialed teacher with clerical functions such as correcting papers, creating lesson plans, making copies, helping with progress reports, adapting tests and assignments.
- Act as a cooperative team member in working with King Chavez staff, community, students and families.
- Model appropriate social skills, participation, and problem-solving skills.
- Assist in managing student behavior by applying proactive and positive strategies when helping a student with behavioral concerns.
- Implement behavior support plans as designed by IEP team to help students.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the administration or credentialed staff.
