Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Superintendent, the Director of Programs & Student Support Services is responsible for all areas addressing the needs of SoCal ROC students, high school and adult students, including but not limited to developing courses, coordinating student registration procedures for Center classes, performing certificated and classified evaluations, working with Curriculum and Instruction Leaders, other duties as assigned. SoCal ROC is seeking a Director Programs/Student Support Services who has high professional and personal standards, has a vision for the future, and demonstrates it through his/her leadership. This individual will inspire, lead, guide, and direct all members of the instructional team in achieving the highest standards of excellence, so that every student may be provided with a meaningful and rewarding education.

Requirements / Qualifications

EXPERIENCE / TRAINING / QUALIFICATIONS: • Master’s Degree from an accredited college/university. • Possession of a valid California Teaching Credential (authorizing teaching at the secondary level and/or designated subject vocational credential or career technical subjects vocational education credential at the high school and adult level) and an appropriate California Administrative Service Credential are required. • Minimum of three (3) years of successful teaching experience. • Minimum of three (3) years of successful administrative experience at the high school level is desirable which relates to the skills, knowledge, and abilities required to be successful in this position. • Experience in Career Technical Education is highly desirable. • Knowledge of operational and instructional principles of ROC/Ps, including work-based learning. • Knowledge of effective administrative practices, techniques and principles. • Thorough working knowledge of curriculum development, effective instructional strategies and techniques, program design, assessment, and evaluation procedures. • Knowledge of articulated school-to-career instructional designs, including academic and career technical education and an understanding of the central role of ROC/Ps in these programs. • Ability to involve staff in a consensual decision-making process. • Ability to plan, implement and direct activities designed to ensure the completion of the Mission and Goals of Southern California Regional Occupational Center. • Ability to effectively observe and analyze instructional strategies and techniques, including implementing designated area goals and objective. • Ability to work effectively with the governing board, staff, school districts, other agency personnel, students and the community. • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
