The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County’s most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment. OCDE’s Information Technology (IT) Division is making a difference in Orange County schools by providing services and leveraging technology to simplify, enhance, and provide innovative business and educational solutions. The IT Division is committed to providing creative and collaborative ideas tailored to the district's specific needs. We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic individual to serve as Software Developer for the Application Development Unit. The selected candidate will code, implement, test, analyze, and debug applications according to specifications. This position will develop software prototypes as well as modify, enhance, and update applications. The Software Developer will transform requirements to solutions and provide responsible support to higher level management staff. The ideal candidate will have experience working with ASP.NET, C#, .NET Core and MVC.
Requirements / Qualifications
Education and Experience: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be: • 1-2 years Course Work / Experience in the areas of design, development, testing, debugging and deployment of applications using Microsoft .NET and SQL Server. • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college with major course work in computers or a related field.

The tests are arranged and paid for by OCDE.
