Mental Health Therapist II for 2022-2023 School Year at Lodi Unified
Requirements / Qualifications
BASIC FUNCTION: Work within the scope of the license to provide mental health services including assessment, diagnosis, individual, group and family therapy, mental health evaluations, case management and other milieu and therapeutic interventions to identified students in various programs. Provide consultation to District personnel and other community-based organizations working with students with social, emotional, and behavioral needs related to mental illness; travel to various District sites and school-based health centers to provide direct service to students and coordinate activities with Program personnel; prepare and maintain related records and reports. KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: KNOWLEDGE OF: Principles, techniques, and trends in counseling, psychotherapy and various treatment modalities Biological, behavioral, and environmental aspects of emotional disturbances, mental disability or substance abuse; characteristics of the disability categories Scope and activities of public and private health and welfare agencies and other available community resources Principles and techniques of mental health consultation, education and prevention within the community Legal and ethical standards as outlined by the Board of Behavioral Science and State and Federal statutes which apply to educationally related mental health services LEA Medi-Cal and MAA billing practices and required record keeping
ABILITY TO: Effectively apply psychotherapeutic techniques of a complex nature in the treatment of individual clients and groups within school setting Develop and maintain cooperative, constructive relationships with clients and their families, members of other professional disciplines, social agencies and fellow workers Prepare clear, concise, and comprehensive casework records, and make sound recommendations on the basis of such information Organize and manage a caseload, assessing students’ educational and communication needs Provide clinical supervision, training and evaluation of assigned staff Use appropriate communication mode at students’ level Plan, organize, administer, and coordinate a variety of teaching techniques in curriculum areas Develop and implement goals, objectives and standards Motivate students to learn Analyze current and proposed programs, evaluate alternatives, and adopt effective courses of action Manage multi-level abilities of the classroom population Prepare clear and concise student records and written materials Read, write, and speak using grammatically correct English Utilize instructional technology and operate computers Maintain consistent, punctual and regular attendance EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Requires a master’s degree or higher in counseling, psychology, clinical social work, or a closely related field. Must possess California licensure in Marriage and Family Therapy, Clinical Social Work, Professional Clinical Counseling, or Psychology through Board of Behavioral Science.
