About the Employer

The Orange County Department of Education (OCDE) serves some of Orange County’s most vulnerable student populations and provides support and mandated fiscal oversight to 28 school districts serving more than 600 schools and approximately 475,000 students. In addition to providing direct instruction to students through its own alternative and special education programs, OCDE administers an array of programs and services that are critical to the operations of local school districts and community colleges, facilitating professional development, legal guidance, payroll, career and technical education support, high-speed internet access, Local Control and Accountability Plan assistance and approval, resources for families, and student enrichment. Job Summary

Job Summary

OCDE's Special Education Services Division is currently looking for a dynamic individual to serve as a Speech and Language Pathologist (SLP). This professional is a multi-disciplinary team member responsible for assessing and working with special education students with communication disorders. Our SLP determines need for speech and language services, provides or directs therapeutic services as prescribed in students' Individual Education Plan (IEP), and provides case management activities to related to students' communication disorders. This individual will also provide in-service training programs for teachers and paraeducators, as well as parent workshops to support communication development in the home. This is a 7 hour per day (35 hour per week) position and will require frequent travel to our special education class sites.

Requirements / Qualifications

Qualifications: • Master's degree or equivalent in speech-language pathology or closely related field from a regionally accredited school • Valid California Credential authorizing Speech-Language Pathology services issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing • Meet the Basic Skills Requirement through one of the methods listed on Form CL-667 on the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing website: www.ctc.ca.gov Preferred Experience: • One year of recent, full-time equivalent, supervised experience as a Speech and Language Pathologist providing language, speech, and/or hearing services • Experience in a public school setting providing services to students with Moderate-to-Severe disabilities
