Job Summary

A California Speech-Language Pathology Services (SLPS) in Language, Speech, & Hearing or a Clinical Rehabilitative Services credential in Language, Speech, & Hearing is required for this position. However, BCOE may consider any one of the following alternative options: 1. Education Code §44831 allows public schools to employ an individual who holds a Speech Pathologist license issued by the Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology & Hearing Aid Dispensers Board and who has also earned a Master’s degree in communication disorders. A Certificate of Clearance issued by CTC will be required upon hire for an individual who qualifies through this option. 2. Applicants who meet the minimum qualifications as described in CTC Coded Correspondence 15-05 may apply for the SLPS Variable Term Waiver. Required criteria for initial issuance includes: • Hold Bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology OR hold a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential OR an Education Specialist Credential; AND • Enrollment in California or out-of-state SLPS ASHA-accredited program. 3. Applicants who have completed an equivalent speech-language credential program in another state may qualify for the California SLPS credential with verification of possessing or qualifying for that state’s SLPS credential as described in this CTC CL-879 leaflet. Please contact a BCOE Credentials Analyst at credentials@bcoe.org for further information regarding any of the alternative options listed above.
