DEFINITION: Under general supervision, performs skilled work in the repair and servicing of a variety of electronic, communications and lighting equipment in district schools; and performs related work as required. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES: - Assembles, installs, repairs and services equipment such as radios, television receivers and antennas, public address systems, tape recorders, motion picture projectors and a variety of audiovisual training equipment - Repairs and adjusts master clock and fire alarm systems - Repairs parts and recorders as needed - Designs parts and reorders as needed - Sets up and operates loud speaker and lighting systems at special events - Assists in general electrical maintenance work and installation of wiring systems - Tests electronic equipment - May train helpers and assistants DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Training and Experience: A combination of training and experience equivalent to completion of formal training in general electronics work; three years of experience in electronic maintenance. Knowledge of: - The tools, equipment and methods of repairing electronic communications equipment - The construction, assembly, repair and operation of radio and television receivers Skills in: - Maintaining and establishing effective working relationships with others - Keeping records and preparing reports Ability to: - Diagnose defects in audiovisual equipment operation and to repair the equipment - Read blueprints and wiring diagrams - To instruct and supervise helpers Licenses and Certificates: - A valid California driver’s license

Candidates must pass each part of the examination which consists of the following: Candidates must pass each part of the selection process which consists of a review and evaluation of candidate’s application material.
