Job Summary

Job Summary

Wasco Union High School District is seeking qualified applicants for the position of District Safety Officer (DSO). The District Safety Officer (DSO), under the supervision of the Superintendent, will function as the District’s Chief of Security (Ed. Code 38000). As the District’s Chief of Security, the DSO will provide leadership and coordination in the development, implementation and evaluation of a variety of services related to the safety and security of students, employees, and property within the district. This position is responsible for the coordination of campus security, public safety, and emergency plans; management of assigned programs and services; ensuring District compliance with all applicable local, state and federal policies and laws; and performing related work as assigned.The position is full time, eight hours per day, twelve months per year, and five days per week. Overtime hours may be required in the course of the job duties. Exceptional Benefits Package: Full Health, dental, vision, prescription and life insurance are provided by the District with no employee contribution for individual and family. The salary range is $65,802.00-$89,301.00 annually.

Requirements / Qualifications

Desired experience, knowledge and attributes: • Graduation from high school (or equivalent) with additional training in law enforcement or related field and four (4) years of full time experience in campus policing (Ex: School Resource Officer) or 10 years experience in Law Enforcement including at least one (1) year in a supervisory capacity. • Successful completion of Peace Officers Standard Training (POST) training and certification which has been approved by the Department of Consumer Affairs Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) and the Commission on Peace Officers Standards and training (POST). • Successful completion of PC 832 training and certification which has been approved by the Department of Consumer Affairs Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) and the Commission on Peace Officers Standards and training (POST), including experience and instruction in firearms, chemical agents, defensive tactics, and arrest / control techniques. • Successful completion of School Security (SB 1626) training and certification (within 3 months of employment) which has been approved by the Department of Consumer Affairs Bureau of Security and Investigative Services (BSIS) and the Commission on Peace Officers Standards and training (POST). • DOJ/ FBI Background Clearance • CPR and First Aid Certification • Valid California Class C Driver's License

Required Qualifications: • Associate’s degree (or higher) in Criminal Justice, Police Science or in a related field • Retired Law Enforcement Officer (Police Officer, Sherriff Deputy, Probation Officer, etc…) • Experience working in a school environment and interacting with students, staff, and community • Experience with Microsoft Office • Bilingual
