Requirements / Qualifications

Applicant must hold a Valid California Designated Subjects Special Subjects Teaching Credential with English Learner authorization, and . MCJROTC Certification Letter, obtained from Headquarters, MCJROTC in Quantico, VA ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 1. Perform regular teaching tasks in a multi-subject JROTC curriculum, as required by state and district requirements (e.g., provide instruction, assess/encourage student progress, and manage learning process) 2. Follow the general duties and responsibilities for teachers in the state of California 3. Instruct students in general military subjects, health, and leadership 4. Ensure proper maintenance and physical security of all government furnished equipment/materials 5. Plan and coordinate extra-curricular activities for JROTC Unit (e.g., color/honor guard ceremonies; drill team, color guard, and rifle team competitions; field trips; and leadership camps) 6. Prepare periodic reports on program administration 7. Assess JROTC program to assure program objectives are being met 8. Attend military-sponsored seminars to keep abreast of new requirements of program management 9. Make presentations on JROTC program to students at feeder schools 10. Provide guidance, direction, and counseling for students in JROTC 11. Maintain contact with civic/veterans organizations to obtain their recognition of the JROTC Unit 12. Perform other duties, as necessary, for the effectiveness of the organization and the safety of students
