As the California Virtual Academies are public schools and this is a public school position, these are set contracted hours and you must be available/working during these hours while under contract with the California Virtual Academies. You are not allowed to have another job during these contracted hours.

August 2022- Immediate hires as needed throughout the 2022-2023 school year. We are an enrollment based school, we hire throughout the school year to support the needs of our growing student populations.
Location
Our administrative office is located in Simi Valley, CA, but most of our Speech and Language Pathologists work from home.

Speech and Language Pathologist positions are hired throughout California as we service students and hire in most California counties, except the following 16 counties: Alpine, Del Norte, El Dorado, Glenn, Humboldt, Lassen, Mariposa, Modoc, Nevada, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Siskiyou, Tehama, Tuolumne, and Trinity.

Requirements / Qualifications

ABOUT CALIFORNIA VIRTUAL ACADEMIES AND THE SPEECH AND LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST POSITION: The California Virtual Academies (a network of 9 public charter schools) delivers online/virtual home based instruction to TK-12 students in California. While our schools do offer some scheduling flexibility, students are required to complete approximately 4-6 hours of coursework daily and log attendance. Stride is our curriculum provider. Speech and Language Pathologists (SLP) will provide assessment, diagnosis, and treatment for students, who exhibit a full range of communication disorders, including articulation and phonological disorders, fluency disorders, voice disorders, and expressive, receptive, and social-pragmatic language disorders. Some students may utilize alternative forms of communication, including AAC & sign language. You will be required to schedule speech therapy sessions and assessments and provide services as specified on students’ Individual Education Plans (IEP). You will review speech screeners and attend Needs Assessment Meetings (NAM) and Student Success Team (SST) meetings for students referred by teachers and parents with speech and language concerns. You will complete all required documentation, including case logs, progress reports, and IEPs. SLP's will case manage a speech only caseload, assess and provide their direct services with the support of a SLPA when possible. You will be required to attend IEP meetings and will use the IEP programs SEIS to create Assessment Plans and IEPs. You will conduct assessments and will complete Speech and Language Assessment Reports, Review of Record Reports, and Default Review of Record Reports. Services are generally conducted online, using a HIPAA compliant video conferencing platform, such as Zoom. You may be required to travel to complete in-person assessments monthly.
