WHAT YOU'LL DO Under the general direction of an assigned supervisor, design and implement marketing and/or communications strategies, web design and activities of the District and/or colleges.

 

The immediate vacancy is a full time (12 mos/yr & 40 hrs/wk) position located at the District Administrative Center.

 

WHERE YOU'LL WORK

The District Administrative Center, centrally located in Camarillo, oversees administrative functions, and provides leadership and services to the three colleges in support of VCCCD's mission.

 

The Marketing, Communications, and Outreach Department provides services including marketing, public relations, communications, news and events, advertising, and media relations.

SALARY PLACEMENT

New Employees: Generally, new employees are placed on the first step of the appropriate range of the salary schedule.

Current Employees: An employee who is promoted will be placed on the salary step of the new range of the appropriate salary schedule that provides a minimum increase comparable to a one-step increase in salary.

This recruitment is being conducted to establish a list of eligible candidates that will be used to fill district-wide, current and upcoming, temporary and regular vacancies for the duration of the list, not to exceed one year.

 

Representative Duties

 

Conceptualize, research, plan, develop, design, and implement district and college marketing campaigns, including themes and content, project cost estimates, and timelines. E

 

Develop and conduct formal and one-on-one trainings pertaining to web design, content management systems, digital asset management, and other software or functions related to marketing and communications; provide ongoing training and assistance as necessary. E

 

Utilize content management systems to develop, update and maintain front-end website design and to maximize aesthetic, usability, accessibility, format functionality, and user experience. E

 

Design, develop, and distribute marketing assets and content, including photos, graphics, videos, blogs, and posts. E

 

Conduct marketing and communications needs assessments including consulting with clients, assisting with conducting focus groups, and assisting in the administration of assessment surveys. E

 

Establish and maintain collaborative relationships and partnerships with business entities, community agencies, and media outlets. E

 

Research and implement strategies for increasing website traffic and visibility through Search Engine Optimization (SEO). E

 

Research and implement strategies and software for personalizing and automating digital marketing activities, including email, social media, and ads. E

 

Research, recommend, implement, and maintain new software, tools, and technology related to marketing, communications, and website functions. E

 

Collect, compile, and track data analytics regarding the effectiveness of outbound/inbound marketing, communications, and website activities. E

 

Implement and recommend marketing-related standard operating procedures and guidelines to ensure consistency of marketing materials and practices; assist in monitoring content and branding of websites and portals. E

 

Maintain the content marketing management calendar; establish production timelines and calendars to ensure timely production. E

 

Write, edit, and distribute press releases, media advisories, newsletters, email campaigns, electronic communications, and other public written communications. E

 

Provide training, work direction, and guidance to others as assigned. E

 

Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

 

An associate degree from a recognized college or university AND three years of experience designing marketing projects, including experience or certification in one of the following digital marketing areas: website design or content management systems, digital marketing analytics, search engine optimization, or digital marketing automation

 

OR

 

A bachelor's degree from a recognized college or university AND two years of experience designing marketing projects, including experience or certification in one of the following digital marketing areas: website design or content management systems, digital marketing analytics, search engine optimization, or digital marketing automation

 

OR

 

A graduate degree from a recognized college or university AND one year of experience designing marketing projects, including experience or certification in one of the following digital marketing areas: website design or content management systems, digital marketing analytics, search engine optimization, or digital marketing automation

EXAMINATION AND SELECTION PROCESS:

 

This is an examination open to the public and current district employees seeking a promotional opportunity. To ensure consideration, please submit your application materials by March 16, 2022.The examination process may consist of any of the following components: A) Performance Test = Qualifying (pass/fail) C) Technical Interview = 100% weighting on final score

 

Those candidates who meet the minimum qualifications will be sent instructions for the Performance Test.

 

PERFORMANCE TEST AND WEBSITE PORTFOLIO EVALUATION:

Instructions will be emailed on Thursday, March 17, 2022Due Date: Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 12:00 p.m.

 

The eight (8) candidates with the highest passing score in the Performance Test will be invited to participate in the technical interview.

 

TECHNICAL INTERVIEW DATE RANGE: Date Range: Monday, April 4, 2022 to Friday, April 8, 2022

 

Location: The Technical Interview will be conducted remotely, using Zoom. In order to participate in the interview, you must have access to a computer with a camera, microphone, speakers, and a reliable connection to the internet.

 

The examination components and dates are subject to change as needs dictate. All communication regarding this process will be delivered via email.

Applicants must meet the minimum qualifications as stated, including the possession of licenses, certifications, or other requirements, by the filing deadline in order to move forward in the recruitment process. ELIGIBILITY LIST: Upon completion of the examination, the eligibility list will be compiled by combining the final examination score with applicable seniority and veteran's credits, if any. The candidates will be ranked according to their total score on the eligibility list. Certification will be made from the highest three ranks of the eligibility list. This eligibility list will be used to fill current vacancies for up to one year from the date of the technical interview. PROBATIONARY PERIOD: All appointments made from eligibility lists for initial appointment or for promotion, with certain exceptions, shall be probationary for a period of six (6) months or one hundred thirty (130) days of paid service, whichever is longer. Classified management, police, and designated executive classifications shall be probationary for a period of one (1) year of paid service from initial appointment or promotion.
