Requirements / Qualifications

SELECTION PROCEDURE: Any combination equivalent to graduation from high school and some experience working with children. All material to be reviewed by the screening committee must be submitted with the application. The District administration reserves the right to screen applicants based on a review of applications, resumes, and recommendations and does not guarantee a personal interview to all applicants. Substitutes are needed throughout the school year, therefore Mt. Diablo School District hires subs for this position ongoing. We are currently hiring for the School Year 2018-19.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: Training and Experience: a combination of training and experience equivalent to one year of cooking and baking experience in a large-scale commercial or institutional settings; completion of district in-service training program supplemented with coursework in foods and nutrition, sanitation and safety, quantity food preparation. Knowledge of: • The preparation and service of a variety of foods • The use and care of kitchen equipment • Sanitary methods used in food preparation • Safety practices Skills in: • Understanding and following written and oral instructions • The use and care of kitchen equipment • Lifting and carrying up to 25 pounds • Maintaining routine records • Operating a cash register Ability to: • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others • Learn and interpret rules, regulations, procedures and policies Licenses and Certificates: • A valid California driver’s license may be required.
