Who We Are: Point Quest Pediatrics focuses on providing meaningful and functional behavioral, mental health, and speech and language services to students ages 5 to 22 years of age. Pediatrics strives to equip each student with the skills and strategies needed to successfully execute their academic program in the least restrictive environment possible. Pediatrics partners with contracting school districts to assist them in serving their students who qualify for services and assessments as outlined in the student's IEP.

Location:  We are looking for a Mental Health Therapist to provide services in San Leandro, California. The position we are hiring for will provide individual, group, and crisis therapeutic services to 1 middle school counseling-enriched classroom.

POSITION REPORTS TO: Direct report to Director of Related Services, Clinical Director, Site Director, Co-CEO, or Mental Health Coordinator

PURPOSE OF POSITION: We are looking for a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist/ Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor or a board registered (number assigned) Associate Marriage & Family Therapist/ Associate Professional Clinical Counselor. 

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: 

  • Provide individual, group, and/or parent counseling services as required in each student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP).
  • May also need to provide crisis counseling as needed to students in distress.
  • Document session attendance, progress notes, and communication with parents/guardians/other service providers via Point Quest Pediatric Therapies’ secure electronic database.
  • May need to create Social/Emotional goals for student IEPs.
  • Attend student IEPs to provide updates on student progress and behavior.
  • Completes other responsibilities as assigned.

MINIMUM SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Must be an LMFT/LPCC/AMFT/APCC, registered and currently in good standing with the California Board of Behavioral Sciences, and maintain this registration and standing throughout your employment.
  • Preferred experience working within a school setting or with children with autism and/or behavioral issues. 
  • Therapy services at this time are delivered in person but all therapists are provided PPE and cleaning products. Students are also required to wear masks to receive services.
  • DOJ/FBI Live Scan Background & TB Clearance
  • Pro-Act, CPI, and/or CPR certification helpful
  • Working knowledge of standard business practices and procedures
  • Computer-literate; knowledge of standard company software applications, internet
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks
  • Problem-solving ability and proven accuracy with detailed information
  • Proficient written and verbal English language communication skills, including business writing and professional telephone manner
  • Reliability, dependability, and flexibility
  • Ideal candidates can start ASAP and go until the end of the extended school year.
  • Associates must attend board-regulated weekly supervision sessions.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

  • Occasional exposure to dust, pollen, and fumes
  • Requires frequent reaching, handling, sitting, standing, walking, hearing, talking, stooping, bending, crouching, kneeling, running, carrying and lifting 50 or more lbs.
  • Must be able to see and hear within normal range with or without correction.
  • The noise intensity level is moderate to high
