Iovine and Young Center (formerly Regional HS #1) will open in August 2022 as a magnet high school on the campus of Audubon MS in Leimert Park with a theme of Integrated Design, Technology and Entrepreneurship. The school will operate on a 4 x 4 bell schedule starting with grades 9 and 10 with the remaining grades added in subsequent school years. Iovine and Young Center (IYC) will be modeled after the USC Iovine and Young Academy employing a uniquely integrated design, business, and technology curriculum to supplement and enhance traditional A-G subject matter in an effort to empower the next generation of thought leaders, innovators, and entrepreneurs. For students of IYC, the curriculum will provide new career paths and opportunities as well as increased access to top college programs through a cutting-edge college prep curriculum, and enhanced learning programs that focus on critical and creative thinking, analysis and application. Iovine and Young Center will provide rigorous learning in an adaptive, multi-disciplinary environment that emphasizes teamwork and collaborative problem solving. IYC will be a richly-layered and diverse experience that includes scholarly research; human-centered investigation; hands-on, experimental and applied projects; and strong professionalizing opportunities with industry and the nonprofit sector. The common core aligned curriculum will meet standards prescribed by both the State of California and the University of California System. Please watch the IYC promotional video https://bit.ly/IYCvideo and visit both the Iovine and Young Center website https://www.iovineandyoung-lausd.com/ and the USC Iovine and Young Academy website https://iovine-young.usc.edu/ for more information.
