COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

 

• Salary Range: $4,320 -$5,252 per month (21/22 Classified Salary Schedule); maximum initial placement at $4,765 per month (placement within this range is based on assessment of previous experience as documented in application materials).

 

• Fringe benefits: The District offers a competitive health & benefits package for employees and eligible dependents.

 

• Leave/Holiday time: Full-time classified members earn 8 hours of sick leave and start off accruing 8.0 hours of vacation for each month worked (accrual rate increases after third year of employment and rates are pro-rated for part-time employees). Employees are also compensated for holidays recognized by the District (14 holidays/year, pro-rated for part-time employees).

JOB DESCRIPTION:The Santa Rosa Junior College Southwest Santa Rosa Center is seeking a qualified individual with demonstrated communication skills to join an outstanding team of faculty and staff to provide high-quality services to our district, our community, and most importantly to our students. Under general supervision, perform a variety of student success services duties including application, orientation, assessment and registration and student follow up; serve as a liaison to appropriate District departments.

This is a partial categorical, full-time (1.0 FTE), 12 month, classified position. The tentative work schedule will be Monday through Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, evenings and weekends as needed. This position is bilingual required - (oral and written - Spanish/English). This position is contingent upon funding and Board approval.

SCOPE: The Student Success Technician completes admissions & records functions; provides information to students, faculty, staff, and the public; administers assessment tests used by the District, and ensures integrity of testing environment and materials; scores tests and coordinates distribution of results to students and appropriate District departments; collaborates with departments to develop and present program orientation materials; provides follow up services to students to ensure successful matriculation.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION:The Student Services Office is committed to provide equitable services for noncredit and credit students. Its dedication is to support the college's mission of access, success, and retention. The function of the Student Services Office is to deliver registration, student support services, appropriate placement and related tests that support enrollment. The staff consists of the Manager, Southwest Santa Rosa Center, two Student Success Technicians, one Student Success Specialist I, one academic counselor, and several temporary and student workers.

Essential Functions

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Examples of key duties are interpreted as being descriptive and not restrictive in nature. Incumbents routinely perform approximately 80% of the duties below.

 

• Serves as a resource regarding District regulations, policies and procedures related to student success.

• Interacts with students, faculty and staff in communicating and interpreting student success policies; performs student follow-up duties; translates/interprets communications (English/Spanish).

• Gathers and enters data and test results into databases; records and prepares reports for student demographic and statistical information.

• Maintains accurate electronic and written documents; performs related administrative duties.

• Orders and maintains student success supplies.

• Participates in community outreach events; prepares outreach materials.

• Facilitates intake and performs registration services for the District, both on campus and at off-campus locations.

• Administers, schedules, registers and scores assessment, placement and diagnostic tests; maintains integrity of test environment and materials.

• Interprets and implements Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA).

• May supervise student and short-term, non-continuing employees.

 

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

Minimum Qualifications

 

Candidates/incumbents must meet the minimum qualifications as detailed below, or file for equivalency. Required Education:

Graduation from high school; Associate's degree preferred.

 

Required Experience:

Previous (less than one year of full-time equivalent) experience in an office environment; experience in a college environment preferred.

 

Additional Requirement: Bilingual (English/Spanish) oral and written communication skills required.

 

LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE:

This classification requires the use of a personal or District vehicle while conducting District business. Must possess a valid (Class C) California driver's license and an acceptable driving record.

• Position requires frequent travel to various area high schools, organizations, and community agencies.
