KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Possession of a valid California Credential: Education Specialist, Deaf and Hard of Hearing. 1. Verification of Passing Score Basic Skills Test or CBEST. 2. Possession of a valid California drivers License if required by the duties of the assignment. 3. GENERAL SUMMARY:
Identify, support and instruct students that are Deaf and Hard of Hearing with identified educational needs.
SUPERVISON:
Directly responsible to the SELPA Director or Assistant Superintendent, Special Education.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Coordinate and participate in the identification, assessment, instructional planning and referral process of D/HH students
•Assess students initially and triennially in the areas of academic achievement, listening behavior, language, and communication and make recommendations for Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and objectives in corresponding areas.
•Participate with members of the IEP team (parents, teachers, principals and other staff, psychologists, nurses, audiologists, and Hearing Aid Dealers) to provide the students appropriate services.
•Plan and implement instructional supports for students to meet assessed student needs while integrating IEP goals and objectives.
•Provide and monitor specialized materials and/or equipment for students for use in the classroom.
