Training and Experience The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this classification would typically be acquired through graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate; one year of general experience in grounds maintenance, gardening, or related work, or any combination of training and experience that could likely provide the desired knowledge and abilities. Knowledge of Basic methods, supplies, and tools used in planting, cultivating, and caring for lawns, trees, and shrubs. General safety procedures and practices. Ability to Use various gardening and grounds maintenance tools and power equipment safely and efficiently. Perform heavy manual labor. Drive and operate light trucks and power equipment efficiently and safely. Understand and carry out oral and written instructions. Maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the course of work. License Possession of a valid California driver' s license.
