Description of Position
Under the supervision of the Delegate Director, has the responsibility of assisting in the development of curriculum and providing educational resources, training and technical assistance to Head Start/State Preschool teachers and assisting in the coordination of the educational program with the Elementary District.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Delegate Director, assists in developing and implementing the education plan, including kindergarten transition plans; assists in planning, coordinating and implementing program self - assessments; assists in implementing activities to achieve educational goals; assists in developing, implementing and assessing staff development; assists in developing and implementing a curriculum that is developmentally and culturally appropriate and is a continuum of expectations and standards related to District elementary programs; conducts classroom visits and observations providing on site consultations to teaching staff; models effective teaching strategies; assists in the articulation of program goals and objectives; effectively communicates and maintains cooperative relationships with those contacted in the course of work; performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: BA with minimum of 12 units in ECE
Child Development or Elementary Teaching Credential;
Knowledge of: Effective teaching strategies for preschool age children; Intellectual, social, emotional and physical needs of preschool age children; Appropriate strategies for adult learning.
Ability to: Understand and implement complex oral and written instructions; Compose clear, complete and concise reports using correct grammar.
Experience: Minimum of 5 years teaching experience in elementary and/or preschool or combination of both; Experience in training adults.
Desirable: Familiarity with Head Start and State Preschool regulations; Fluency in Spanish and/or Punjabi languages highly desirable.
