POSITION OVERVIEW The Chief of Wellbeing and Support Services provides leadership and central support, with a social work focus, for LACOE’s coordinated student support services, school behavioral health programs, including the Community Schools Initiative, mental health services and support, well- being and partnerships. The Chief of Wellbeing and Support Services collaborates and partners with Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health and other key behavioral health stakeholders, to develop a framework for a robust and coordinated system of social, emotional, and behavioral health supports for students across LACOE's Community Schools, other self-governed programs as well as in partnership with the 80 school districts within Los Angeles County. The Chief of Wellbeing and Support Services reports to the County Superintendent and/or Deputy Superintendent.
Requirements / Qualifications
EXPERIENCE Broad range of leadership experience in a large mental health or public school organization with a diverse population. Executive Cabinet experience, with an extensive background in social work, child welfare and attendance, school mental health, school support services, equity, diversity and inclusion, is required. Direct school site work or school site experience preferred. EDUCATION A master's degree in social work, psychology, marriage, and family therapy, school counseling, or closely related field from an accredited college or university is required and a License in Clinical Social Work or License in Marriage and Family Therapy or doctorate in the related field is desirable. LICENSE AND CREDENTIAL Possess and maintain a valid California Administrative Services Credential. A valid License in Clinical Social Work, License in Marriage and Family Therapy, Pupil Personnel Services Credential in Social Work or School Counseling or Certified Health Education Specialist Credential is desirable. COVID-19 Vaccination Requirement for All Los Angeles County Office of Education Employees
Under Superintendent Policy 4060, COVID-19 Vaccination, the Los Angeles County Office of Education (LACOE) requires that all LACOE employees, including substitute employees, temporary office workers, hourly/part-time employees, contractors, interns, and volunteers are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. An individual is considered “fully vaccinated” when at least two weeks have passed since that individual’s receipt of the second dose in a two-dose series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or two weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson and Johnson’s Janssen vaccine. LACOE will consider requests for accommodations (exemptions) made by individuals who cannot receive the vaccine due to medical reasons and/or sincerely held religious beliefs, subject to the interactive process.
