GIRLS SOCCER COACH

Position Description

JOB SUMMARY

Coordinate all aspects of an athletic program for a particular sport including the training and instruction of student athletes, be prepared for all scheduled events and conform to all District policies and procedures for athletics.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1) Carefully supervise coaching at all levels of the sports teams

2) Inform staff at all levels of their responsibilities and the current rules/regulations pertaining to the sport

3) Issue, receive and inventory equipment and submit needs to the Athletic Director

4) Care and prevention of athlete injuries

5) Cooperate with administration and staff in maintaining an accurate eligibility roster

6) Organize, oversee and conduct all practice sessions and ensure that the team is supervised at all times

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:

1) Current employment in Kingsburg Joint Union High School District preferred

2) Must show proof of completion of Coaches Education from a certified CIF/ASEP coaching Education Program

3) Must have a valid CPR and First Aid Card

4) Must clear a Department of Justice and Federal Bureau of Investigation criminal background check and other clearances required for employment by KJUHSD

5) Coaching in community youth athletic programs or participation in competitive athletics at the high school level or above in the sport being coached

Ability to:

1) Develop positive team spirit and morale

2) Utilize the coaching staff competently

3) Adhere to budget policies and procedures

4) Maintain discipline in a firm and friendly manner

5) Place the welfare of the athletes above winning and not sacrifice values or principles to win

6) Be a positive role model for athletes

Knowledge of :

1) Care and prevention of athletic injuries, basic first aid and emergency procedures

2) Child or adolescent psychology as it relates to sports participation

3) Rules and regulations pertaining to sport being coached, the league rules and regulations of the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF)

4) Fundamental skills and techniques related to sport and at least one year Head Coaching experience preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Environment: Work Indoors and/or outdoors depending on sport
