About the Employer Rex and Margaret Fortune School of Education is a comprehensive education system including, non-profit preschools, a network of tuition-free, public charter schools (TK-12th), and a school of education with a masters programs and educator preparations programs accredited by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. in Sacramento/San Bernardino County. We prepare students for college starting in preschool Transitional Kindergarten in San Bernardino and Sacramento Counties and are focused on closing the African American achievement gap. Current First Aid and CPR certification AND valid California Driver’s License. General Summary: Under administrative supervision, provide school health and nursing services related to COVID-19 to staff and students; promote health, prevention education and safety information related to COVID-19; serve as a technical and health education resource to students staff and the community related to COVID-19; provide case management related to vaccines and weekly testing as well as contract tracing liaison services with county health officials; and actively collaborate with others to build student and family capacity for adaptation, self-management, self-advocacy, and learning during the COVID-19 pandemic. Other responsibilities will include symptom assessing, maintaining safety protocols, communication with parents and district staff regarding confidential student information. Health Aide will be provided training in contact tracing, proper use of PPE, and other COVID-related topics. Additional Benefits: Paid Time Off : 12 paid sick days, 12 paid vacation days and 2 paid floater days. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties include but are not limited to:
• Responsible for the administrative tasks related to collecting vaccine and testing information for employees; assigning and monitoring mandated employee testing; reporting information to management as required.
• Promote and provide vaccine resources and testing with employees and families.
• Conduct appropriate staff education and in-service training meetings related to COVID-19.
• Advise and act as a resource to school-site contact tracers who have students who have been exposed and/or have tested positive for COVID-19.
• Serve as the primary contact for employees who have been exposed and/or have tested positive for COVID-19.
• Refer student/family and/or employee to appropriate community resources for COVID-19-related services.
• Serve as a liaison between the schools and local county health departments related to contact tracing following the Johns Hopkins protocols.
• Act as a consultant for schools by providing current scientific information regarding the prevention of COVID-19, and conduct in-service training on this topic as appropriate.
• Operate standard office equipment, including a computer, assigned software and assistive devices.
Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in nursing, health education or related field.
Certification:
possess a current First Aid and CPR certification; possess a valid California Driver’s License.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Personal Characteristics:
Knowledge of modern medical terminology, equipment and techniques. Knowledge of diagnostic methods for medical conditions and diseases. Knowledge of pediatrics, normal child and adolescent growth and development, public health, mental health, child abuse, and special education programs and services; knowledge of the fundamental principles and accepted practices, current trends, literature and research related to nursing in schools; knowledge of applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures; ability to plan, organize, prioritize, and manage time; ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, peers, administrators, and other personnel, both individually and in a group; ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others; possess a positive attitude towards students including those from diverse backgrounds. Knowledge of medication effects and proper administration procedures. Knowledge of proper operation of specialized health assessment instruments. Possesses strong oral and written communication skills and strong interpersonal skills such as tact, patience and courtesy. Bi-lingual in Spanish a plus.

Indoor and outdoor school environment; continuous contact with staff, students, and the public; must drive a vehicle to conduct work.
Physical Characteristics: (with or without the use of aids; consideration will be given to reasonable accommodation). Ability to speak in an understandable voice with sufficient volume to be heard in normal conversation, on the telephone, and in addressing groups; physical, mental, and emotional stamina to endure long hours under sometimes stressful conditions; sufficient vision to read printed material; sufficient hearing to conduct in-person and telephone conversations; sufficient physical mobility to move about the organization and drive a car.
