Job Summary Under the general supervision of a site administrator, assume the responsibility for coaching/training student athlete as the Boys/Girls Volleyball Head Coach at Eagle Rock High School. EXAMPLES OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Assumes responsibility for the entire program which includes coaching Varsity/JV and implementation of LAUSD athletic department policies. Verification of student physical examination requirements and preparation of athletic eligibility lists. 2. Works with Eagle Rock High School Athletic Director to correlate the practice schedules of JV & Varsity volleyball program. 3. Assist in organizing and coordinating all phases of a sports program including in-season, & off-season 4. Assist in teaching athletes to perform sound, safe fundamental techniques of a designated sport throughout the season. 5. Ensure adherence to rules and regulations governing high school athletics, as well as school policies. 6. Supervise athletes during practices, at home and away games. 7. Maintain accurate records as required, which could include but not be limited to team lists, score books, statistics, etc. 8. Maintain, inventory and assist in ordering all equipment needed for all phases of a designated sport program. 9. Communicates with players about personal development during the season as well as the off-season. 10. Leads by example regarding promotion of sportsmanship and maintains a positive staff relationship with other coaches. 11. Models coaches code of conduct and enforce student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off school property in accordance with LAUSD Student Athletes Code of Conduct. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to: • Demonstrate strong scheduling and organizational skills • Communicate effectively with students and parents, orally and in writing • Effectively supervise students • Apply and explain school rules, regulations, policies and procedures

Experience/Education: • Competitive experience in the competitive volleyball programs • Previous coaching experience desirable • Previous work with adolescent age students desirable Other Certificates/Credentials: • Current First Aid and CPR certification required

This position is for a walk-on girls and/or boys’ volleyball coach for Varsity and JV teams. Practices are typically three to five days per week after school for 1.5 hours each. Rate of pay for athletic coaching positions is $2,311 for varsity boys or girls volleyball and $1,691 for JV. Classified coaches are paid at an hourly rate for the maximum number of hours per season on a monthly basis, as specified for each position. Coaching and/or high level playing experience is required.
