New West Charter is an award-winning 6-12th grade independent charter school in Los Angeles, California. Our school attracts a diverse student population from all over the area, focuses on academics, and builds confidence through the arts and athletics. We are looking to add an enthusiastic Music Director to New West’s high school faculty to serve students in grades 9-12. The ideal candidate would be a highly qualified and experienced teacher who is ready to direct Ensemble groups, Concert Choir, and Music History & Appreciation courses in alignment with the California Content Standards. Teachers with valid Visual & Performing Arts credentials and English Learner Certification will be considered. Our school values student-centered learning. Teachers are expected to engage students in lessons that help them make meaning for themselves through classroom activities (demonstrations, simulations, labs, discussions, debates), assignments (creative projects and evidence-based persuasive papers), and assessments (multiple formative and summative assessments to measure progress towards mastery).
