About the Employer
The Chawanakee Unified School District is within a 30-minute drive of Fresno, Madera, and Merced. We are located in Eastern Madera County, extending from the floor of the San Joaquin Valley to the crest of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, including a significant amount of territory in the Sierra National Forest. The district encompasses the communities of North Fork, O’Neals, Tesoro Viejo, and Millerton Preserve. Spectacular recreational areas of Bass Lake and Yosemite National Park surround North Fork while the San Joaquin River borders Tesoro Viejo and Millerton Preserve on the eastern side. The district is close to Badger Pass and China Peak ski slopes, and we are just minutes from Millerton Lake State Park. Job Summary
Under the general direction of the Superintendent or designee, the Director of Maintenance, Operations and Transportation (MOT) plans, organizes, coordinates and supervises maintenance, custodial, grounds keeping, and transportation departments of the district. The Director (MOT) trains and supervises classified employees assigned to the maintenance and operation of schools in addition to those assigned to transportation department duties; ensures the ordering of all custodial, maintenance and transportation supplies and equipment; monitors the budgets for the maintenance, operations and transportation departments; oversees construction, reconstruction and modernization projects, and funding coordination; supervises the day-to-day operation of the District's pupil transportation program, including any contracted services with other neighboring school districts; ensures strict compliance with all applicable laws governing pupil transportation and vehicle repair; and assists in the development of long-range plans for MOT and does related work as required. Start Date: As soon as possible Hours: M-F, 8 hours/day, 248 duty days Full-time permanent employees are offered an attractive benefit package which includes health, dental, vision coverage for the employee and eligible dependents. Requirements / Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent is required; Five (5) years of successful experience in the maintenance, grounds, construction and/or transportation fields; (3) Three years of Supervisorial experience. Bachelor's degree is desirable. Valid California Driver License. Upon hire must clear fingerprint scan, submit proof of negative TB and pass pre-employment physical.
