Company : Diego Hills Central Expanded Learning Opportunity Grant Position $16.50 per hour - At least two years of College (48 units), or Associate degree (or higher) from an accredited state college, or pass a local assessment of knowledge and skills in assisting in instruction issued by an approved Local education agency. $22 per hour - Bachelor's Degree Duration: Until August 1, 2022 This position will report to the school site and support student who are virtual learners. The Paraprofessional serves as a knowledgeable professional in the indicated Education Program and/or related service delivery process. This position will assist appropriate educators in servicing students in the specialized program. The Paraprofessional completes paperwork, performs data entry, completes organizational tasks, and provides tutoring support and/or sign language interpretation to students in the specialized program.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Special Education Paraprofessional serves as a knowledgeable professional in the Individual Education Program (IEP) service delivery process. This position will assist special education educators, including the Lead Special Education Specialist, in servicing students with special needs. The Paraprofessional completes paperwork, performs data entry, completes organizational tasks, and provides tutoring support to students with special needs. The Paraprofessional assists teachers in providing required accommodations to students with special needs, monitors online assessments, and collects data relevant to student individual education plans.
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: Note, this list is illustrative only and is not intended to be a comprehensive list of tasks performed by this classification.
· Assist special education educators in their instructional duties and other general responsibilities such as organizing and providing tutorial support.
· Provide additional student support with accommodations and online assessments.
· Assist in IEP related data entry for students enrolling in the school.
· Alert the special education educator to negative behaviors or issues pertaining to students.
· Assist in monitoring and proctoring student assignment and tests.
· Perform clerical tasks for Lead Special Education Specialist as needed, to include assisting in IEP related meetings and timelines and preparing for IEP meetings.
· Assist special educators in contacting parents or adult students and assists in retrieving the required return of special education related forms.
· Assist in the coordinating/scheduling of IEP meetings when requested by the Lead Special Education Specialist.
· Participate in Student Study Team meetings and the delivery of Response to Intervention strategies.
· Aid the special education educator in rendering additional attention or data collection for particular students.
· Follow directions for activities involved in the development and implementation of student IEPs.
· Adhere to attendance policies.
· Perform other related duties.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Bachelor Degree from an accredited university.
· Experience working with students and related experience in the education of individuals with exceptional needs.
· Experience working with low economic and at-risk populations.
· Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
· Ability and willingness to travel to various school locations. DMV Driving Record Check; valid auto insurance and Driver License.
· Strong organizational skills, verbal communication skills, and written communication skills
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Mental Demands: Ability to handle multiple competing projects and assignments;
· Finger Dexterity; using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together.
- Speech clarity, oral expression; written expression, talking; especially where one must convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.
- Average Hearing; able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
- Average Visual Abilities; ordinary acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or operate machinery.
- Physical Strength; sedentary work. Sitting most of the time. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally (almost all office jobs).
- Frequent multi-tasking, changing of task priorities, repetitious exacting work required.
- Working in a noisy, distracting environment with frequent deadline pressures.
