Job Summary

The Bilingual (Spanish) Academic Support Instructor is employed by John Muir Charter School (JMCS) and is responsible for supporting classroom instruction of youth participating in the Conservation Corps North Bay program in San Rafael, California. This position is typically working with small groups or individuals who are primarily Spanish-speaking students at the CCNB center in San Rafael or through digital learning mediums such as Zoom. It is anticipated that there will be some in-person instruction and applicants must be available in person locally. The focus of the educational program is to prepare students for high-school graduation and entry-level employment. The position is responsible for facilitating and supporting students in conjunction with the full time teacher and CCNB educational support staff and applicants should have experience teaching ESL and/or ELD and supporting English Language Learners. This position is open to annuitants wishing to continue working in school setting starting after 180 days of retirement, and open to certificated as well as non-certificated education professionals with satisfactory education and experience. The classroom is a self-contained class; the Academic Support Instructor will work in partnership with the full time teacher to coordinate scheduling, student learning goals, and . Minimum Qualifications: • Bilingual: Fluent Spanish/English • High School Diploma • Strong computer literacy skills and ability to facilitate and support online learning (Google Suite, Windows, Word, Excel, Adobe, online learning platforms) • Ability to plan engaging, effective lessons with bilingual support in all subjects • Ability to tutor Math, English and general high school subjects in Spanish with minimal supervision • Excellent oral and written communication skills (English and Spanish) • Excellent organizational and time management skills • Ability to work and communicate effectively as a part of a team • Ability to motivate, encourage, and support young adults from a wide variety of social, educational and economic backgrounds • Motivation to work with opportunity youth • Excellent interpersonal and human relations skills (conflict resolution, counseling, coaching) • Ability to work effectively with all levels of staff • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and diplomacy on the job • Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision and manage competing priorities • Ability to exercise sound judgment in making effective decisions and in problem solving skills Preferred Qualifications:
